MetraSCAN | 3D Scanner

Bring industry-grade metrology designed for manufacturing into your classroom!

The MetraSCAN 3D is a portable optical coordinate measuring system combining the accuracy of traditional CMMs with the flexibility of handheld 3D scanning. Designed for real-world manufacturing applications, this 3D scanner is suitable for a variety of materials, including reflective and metallic components, allowing it to scan large-scale items such as automotive and aerospace parts. With 0.025 mm accuracy, 15 blue laser crosses, and the C-Track dynamic referencing system, students gain hands-on experience with production-grade quality control and dimensional inspection used across modern manufacturing.

The MetraSCAN 3D BLACK+ Elite is a portable optical CMM scanner designed to bring production-grade metrology capabilities into advanced educational and technical training environments. Unlike traditional CMMs requiring controlled environments, this system thrives on the shop floor—maintaining 0.025 mm accuracy despite vibrations, part movement, and environmental instability. The C-Track optical tracker enables dynamic referencing, meaning the scanner, part, and tracker can all move during measurement while maintaining accuracy. The scanner projects 15 blue laser crosses at 1.8 million measurements per second for rapid data acquisition. The Automatic Volume Extension (AVE) feature allows scanning of large parts up to 16.6 m³ without leapfrogging by simply moving the C-Track. When paired with the optional HandyPROBE Next+, the system combines 3D scanning and precision probing for complete dimensional inspection workflows. The included VXelements software provides integrated tools for scan-to-CAD, dimensional inspection, and quality control reporting. Each system is ISO 17025 certified with traceable documentation. Perfect for postsecondary manufacturing programs, quality control training, and advanced engineering education.
