FANUC Fenceless CR-4iA Collaborative CERT Cart

Teach industrial automation with the world’s leading robot for education!

The FANUC Fenceless CR-4iA Collaborative CERT Cart offers hands-on training in material handling using FANUC’s collaborative robot with advanced safety features. Ideal for introducing students to robotics without the need for traditional safety fencing.

FANUC’s education robots are real-world industry solutions designed for the classroom

The FANUC Fenceless CR-4iA Collaborative CERT Cart is the ultimate solution for schools looking to provide students with real-world training in collaborative robotics. Developed by combining FANUC’s DCS Position and Speed Check software with the Allen Bradley SafeZone Mini Safety Laser Scanner, this innovative, fenceless design ensures a larger work envelope without compromising safety. This compact, mobile CERT Cart fits through a standard door, operates on 110V power, and offers maximum flexibility for classroom or lab setups.

The FANUC CR-4iA robot, designed to resemble the LR Mate family, features a 4 kg payload and 550 mm reach, making it ideal for applications like small part sorting, assembly, inspection, and machine tending. Painted green to indicate its safe, collaborative nature, the CR-4iA provides the same reliability and performance as FANUC’s iconic yellow robots.

Equipped with the R-30iB Mate Plus controller, iRVision, and Force Sensing, the FANUC CR-4iA CERT Cart introduces students to the latest in robotic technology and safety. The system also supports a variety of mounting options—floor, wall, and ceiling—allowing educators to tailor the robot’s use for different tasks and environments.

The fenceless design uses a SafeZone Safety Laser Scanner to continuously monitor the robot’s surroundings, ensuring that students can safely interact with the system. The cart’s large, easy-rolling lockable casters and ultra-quiet air compressor make it easy to integrate into any educational space, providing hands-on experience in collaborative robotics and safety systems.

For those needing greater reach and payload capacity, an optional upgrade is available from the CR-4iA (550 mm reach, 4 kg payload) to the CR-7iA (717 mm reach, 7 kg payload), making the system even more versatile for training purposes.

Basic Robot Operations

On the fenceless CERT cart robot, students will attain a basic understanding of robot operations and programming, material handling and its components, as well as get introduction to preventative maintenance with troubleshooting.

These training solutions and programs are aligned to the FANUC Certified Robot Operator National Certification offered through NOCTI. This level focuses on the core Robot Operator skills needed by employers at an entry level or incumbent workers skills development.

  • Collaborative Robot Programming and Operations: Students will learn to safely program and operate the FANUC CR-4iA robot using the R-30iB Mate Plus controller and HandlingTool software, gaining hands-on experience with collaborative robotics.
  • Material Handling and Automation Applications: Gain practical knowledge in small part sorting, assembly, and machine tending, with opportunities to integrate vision systems and force sensing for more complex tasks.
  • Safety Systems and Collaborative Robotics: Explore advanced safety technologies such as FANUC’s DCS Position and Speed Check software and the Allen Bradley SafeZone Safety Laser Scanner, preparing students for real-world collaborative robotic environments.
  • Flexible System Integration: Students will understand how to mount and configure the robot in various setups (floor, wall, ceiling) while using iRVision and Force Sensing to enhance performance.
