Industrial Learning System (ILS)

The Industrial Learning System is a modular, flexible and expandable platform to teach every industrial technology – from basic safety to fluid power, PLCs, robotics and automation and more – through hands-on, project-based learning in industrial automation.

Flexible, multi-use workstation for industrial automation.

The iLS (Industrial Learning System), developed by APT Manufacturing Solutions, is a modular, scalable training platform that introduces students to real-world industrial automation technologies. Designed for classrooms, labs, and training centers, the iLS integrates robotics, PLCs, pneumatics, safety, and Industry 4.0 concepts into a compact and customizable system.

Built to simulate the workflows of modern manufacturing, the iLS allows learners to progress from foundational skills like PLC programming and sensor applications to advanced concepts such as IIoT, robotics integration, and automated safety systems. With its modular design, schools can expand the system over time, adding additional stations or technologies as programs grow

Features:

  • Scalable and modular platform for progressive training
  • Integrates robotics, PLCs, pneumatics, and safety technologies
  • Curriculum-aligned modules for both beginner and advanced learners
  • Project-based learning with real-world applications in Industry 4.0
  • Portable and classroom-ready design for flexible use

Depending on your setup, you can choose to cover areas including:

PLC Programming

Equip students with skills in ladder logic, function block diagrams, and sequential function charts using the CompactLogix 5380 PLC

HMI Development

Teach configuration and operation of industrial interfaces with the 10.4” PanelView 5000, covering real-world automation processes.

Industrial Automation

Train students in real-world control strategies, communication protocols, and system testing.

Robot Integration

Provide hands-on experience in PLC-to-robot integration using FANUC robots and structured templates.

Panel Building

Develop expertise in wiring, assembling, and troubleshooting industrial-grade control panels within a structured curriculum.

Networking and Communication

Explore Ethernet/IP configurations, dual IP modes, and industrial network architectures for modern control systems.

APT Integration Courses:

The PLC/HMI Trainer is supported by Rockwell Automation’s Learning+ courses and APT Manufacturing Solutions’ curriculum*. These resources cover foundational concepts like ladder logic and panel building, as well as advanced topics like robot integration, safety systems, and Industry 4.0 technologies.

Hear from schools leading automation education

See how high schools and technical and community colleges are preparing their students for high-wage, high-demand careers in industrial automation.

Automation training solutions for every program and learner

The FANUC suite of training solutions covers every aspect of automation technology, from foundational to advanced skills. By developing a comprehensive program, you can prepare learners to enter careers as operators, technicians, programmers, engineers, and integration specialists.

Basic Operator

Students with this level will attain a basic understanding of robot and CNC operations and programming, material handling and its components, and preventative maintenance with troubleshooting. Students will work with standard robot or cobot carts, CNC simulators and 2- and 3-axis machines.

Intermediate Technician

Students with this technical level have a more thorough understanding of robot and CNC operations and programming, material handling and its components, robotic welding, multi-axis machine tools, as well as integrated technology, such as 2D iRVision, conveyors, digital and Ethernet I/O.

Advanced Systems Integrator

Advanced training options teach integrated technologies and how they communicate as a fully-automated system. In addition to robots and CNC machine tools, students will work with PLCs, HMIs, area scanners, light curtains, wireless communication and I/O, pneumatic devices, smart sensors, RFID tags, conveyors, and data analytics.
