The Hybrid Engine Performance Trainer (MEG007-HYB-III) is constructed from a Toyota Prius GEN III hybrid vehicle, sectioned at the lower windshield pillars and with doors removed, to enhance instructional visibility. The trainer retains a complete, fully operational hybrid powertrain, including the drivetrain, ECM, transaxle/transmission, suspension, front brakes, electrical and exhaust systems, air conditioning, and a fully functional dashboard.
All major engine components and subsystems, including fuel, emission control, and electronic control systems, remain intact for hands-on training. A built-in fault insertion box and breakout box allow instructors to simulate real-world system faults while students practice diagnostic procedures using OEM-style strategies. This trainer provides a comprehensive platform for hybrid system analysis, high-voltage safety instruction, and structured diagnostic training aligned with NATEF- and ASE-based curriculum resources. The unit is supported by a steel frame with heavy-duty removable casters for mobility within the lab environment, and safety precautions are integrated to prevent rotational, mechanical, and electrical hazards.
